Get to know me!
Hey! It's Riley Loomis.
I'm a photographer in both the Cincinnati & Columbus area! Currently, I'm a college student at THE Ohio State University (go bucks!!) studying Marketing.
For me, photography is not just about taking pictures of all that's beautiful. It's a way of holding on to bits of our lives that seem to slip away into memories, to look back on a moment in time and cherish it. It's about all the little moments in our lives that we seem to rush by and forget to acknowledge. When light fills my lens, a new perspective opens up that I think our eyes forget to catch onto. The photos I take focus on the little moments, the natural, the lively, and the loving parts of life.
I have my mom to thank for my love of photography. When I look back on pictures from when I was little, I used to wonder why she wasn't in many of them. But then I realized that the beaming, genuine smile of my youth was from the woman behind the camera--my mom, who took every photo I cherish to this day. She taught me to find the beauty life has to offer in everyone's individuality and experiences, and to enjoy the little things we are lucky to have in life.
I am forever grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who inspire me to keep the memories I make with them alive through photography; but my dream is to share this experience with you!
Some of my interests and hobbies:
I love everything creative.
Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed painting, writing, and crafting. Photography, as well as videography, has always been woven into my life. My creativity allows me to showcase the parts of life that I find a love for everyday, whether it's a sketch of my backyard or films of my high school friends & I (if you're interested, you can find these films on Instagram at filmsby.ri! They're just a little part of my life where I can showcase how the people I am lucky to be surrounded by impact my life in beautiful ways.)
Some of my favorite artists as of recent are:
Noah Kahan, Hozier, & Lord Huron. I like to think that I have a love for all kinds of music, but I especially love film soundtracks & music that evokes meaning to me. I am also a big fan of Van Gogh's work (don't quiz me on it though) and my favorite painting is Almond Blossoms.
I LOVE the outdoors.
I think there is something so beautiful about everything nature has gifted us, and I especially love taking photos of all it has to offer. My favorite part of the year is around March 21st when Spring begins to bloom. It brings me so much joy to watch campus grow back and see the flowers around my home begin to sprout.
Pinterest is my favorite form of social media.
If you haven't seen it already, head over to my Pinterest page and check out some of my recent pins! I love taking inspiration from Pinterest as it gives me a range of ideas for different poses, settings, etc. There are a few boards on my page if you need help planning your session, and I hope it gives you some inspiration for what you're looking for!
My favorite photography medium is film!
My love for film started after I received my grandpa's old film camera. It taught me not only the importance of photography, but the impact it has. My first two rolls of film that I ever shot turned out fully blank, causing me to be upset over it for WEEKS. I almost gave up on it until I learned how to properly load the camera, and from there, the results were everything. It is the one camera that has never left my side. Film photography is the perfect way to capture the moment as it is, with no room for retakes. I love the authenticity behind it, and the feeling of nostalgia it creates.
